Yes, another year really has flown by! Whilst we greatly enjoyed celebrating a
decade of trading in 2009 we are now excitedly focusing on the year ahead.
At a time of yet more changes in the Primary Curriculum and the reintroduction of thematic
approaches, we have responded by creating a new storysack around the story of
We’re Sailing Down the Nile. Ancient Egypt is always a popular topic for study
and this sack is a wonderful companion to such work.
Personal Development is also high on the agenda and Neil’s new story Shaun the
shy shark makes a stunning new sack, and raises so many issues including ‘friendship’
and ‘being different’. You will adore the underwater creature soft-toys!
We are also gradually introducing CD-ROMs into our sacks, which will include audio,
prompts, parent guide and in some, early learning goals and a set of And there’s more...
educational and fun activities to extend the enjoyment of the story.
Modern languages continue to expand in primary schools and we have added to our
current range of French storysacks with the inclusion of Madame Arc-en-Ciel
(Mrs Rainbow), one of our best selling picture books. The story line offers
excellent opportunities to introduce colours, seasons and rooms around the home.
As more and more children require support for English as an additional language,
we have added The Journey Home from Grandpa’s to our
English for R.E.A.L sacks,
making a total of seven in the collection. This delightful story focuses on colour,
transport and locations.
With the ever increasing concerns regarding children’s listening and speaking skills
and the worrying decline in an interest in reading, storysacks are perfectly placed
to offer practitioners and parents a wonderful range of resources. They will stimulate
talk and careful listening, whilst helping develop a life-long love of books and stories.
We are certain there is something here for every interest!
